€7.5m · Other round · Energy · Valencia, Spain
Linkener, a Valencia-based energy technology company, has raised €7.5m in an investment round led by Klima, Alantra’s energy-transition fund, with existing investor GoHub Ventures participating. According to Alantra’s announcement, the capital will support Linkener’s proprietary energy-management technology and AI models, organic growth, acquisitions and a broader product and service range.
Turning energy data into an operating layer
Linkener sells an Intelligent Energy Management System to businesses and organisations. Its own remote-metering technology gives customers consumption data rather than relying only on periodic invoices; the platform also digitises and checks bills, analyses supply points and issues alerts and recommendations. Linkener’s website presents the software alongside engineering work for solar and battery projects, which gives the company a route from detecting an energy-cost problem to implementing a physical remedy.
That combination matters commercially because energy savings are not created by dashboards alone. A billing anomaly may be fixed administratively, while a persistent load problem can require different equipment, storage or on-site generation. Linkener can therefore use the same customer data to identify work for its software and engineering teams. The company told Cinco Días that it serves more than 2,000 customers across 10,000 supply points, manages 1.7 TWh annually and has completed more than 400 solar and storage projects in Spain. Those are company-reported figures, but they show an installed base on which new automation and AI tools can be tested and distributed.
Acquisitions can widen the product
This is not Linkener’s first institutional financing. Chief executive José Ignacio Ruiz told Cinco Días that GoHub Ventures led a €1.9m round in 2019. The new investor group is backing a different phase: Linkener plans to acquire complementary products or companies as well as grow organically. In a fragmented energy-services market, acquisitions could add capabilities and customers faster than building every module internally, while Linkener’s existing metering and billing data provides a common platform on which those additions can sit.
Execution will depend on integrating acquired products without turning the platform into a collection of bespoke services. Klima partner Iñigo Echaniz argued that Linkener’s proprietary technology, independent energy data and direct relationships with thousands of customers provide a base for adding capabilities. The €7.5m round gives Linkener resources to test that platform thesis: whether one operating layer can translate energy data into repeatable savings projects across a broader customer base.
