£4.2m · Seed · AI · London, UK
London-based Prolo has raised £4.2m in an oversubscribed Seed round led by Triple Point Ventures. Haatch, the a16z Scout Fund, Anamcara Capital, Concrete VC, Foundation Ventures, Koro Capital, Love Ventures and Portfolio Ventures also participated.
The company will use the capital to expand its product, accelerate go-to-market work and continue building its procurement platform for small and medium-sized construction firms.
An outsourced buying desk for smaller contractors
Prolo combines software with human procurement specialists. Site teams can send a materials or equipment request by WhatsApp, email or phone; Prolo then sources quotes across a supplier network, arranges the order and offers qualifying contractors credit terms. At the funding announcement, investor Haatch said the network covered more than 185 suppliers and credit could extend to 90 days.
That makes the service broader than a purchasing dashboard. Prolo is trying to aggregate demand from smaller contractors so they can access pricing and supplier reach closer to that of larger construction groups, while removing the work of opening accounts, chasing quotes and coordinating delivery. The commercial value should show up in repeat orders and project-level savings, not simply in the number of quotations its software can produce.
Credit deepens the service and raises the execution bar
Construction firms often pay suppliers before receiving payment for completed work. Combining sourcing with credit can therefore make Prolo more useful at the moment a contractor chooses where to buy, but it also ties growth to financing capacity, underwriting and collection as well as software adoption. The company must preserve purchasing margins and credit quality while proving that a larger supplier network produces consistently better availability and prices.
Founder James Morris-Manuel previously built Virtual Walkthrough, which Matterport acquired, before leading Matterport's EMEA operations. The Seed round gives Prolo capital to test whether that experience and its investor network can turn a procurement-as-a-service model into a repeatable operating layer for construction SMEs.
