An AI agent that can use a product may still be unable to buy it.
Software must be able to find the service, authenticate and transact within the right limits.
That changes how products need to be designed. Product teams need to rethink access, pricing and oversight, while investors assess where value and control may sit across the agent-commerce stack.
In a recent EUVC Podcast episode, Viggo Stenseth, Co-Founder and CEO of SolvaPay, joined Redstone General Partners Samuli Sirén and Mickaël Bellaïche to discuss the infrastructure needed when AI agents become customers.
Viggo expected autonomous agent-to-agent transactions to remain months away until prospective customers began requesting them. One already wanted agents to purchase specialised datasets, dashboards and analytics tools through its existing revenue-share model.
The discussion raises three practical questions: Can an agent find and use the service? Does its pricing reflect machine usage? Can it transact with clear identity, authorisation and appropriate oversight?
The episode explores SolvaPay’s approach, while the selected reads extend the discussion into browser access, agent adoption and where defensibility may develop across identity, authorisation and payments.

This week’s focus
Can an agent find, access and pay you?
For founders: Design the whole agent journey
Test what happens before and after the API call. Can an agent reach and operate the product? Will people trust it to act independently? Can the pricing and payment model support autonomous usage? These resources cover machine access, adoption and transaction design.
For investors: Assess where value may accumulate
For investors, the key question is where the moat will sit: agent identity, authorisation, orchestration or settlement. These resources help assess which providers can own the agent relationship, earn enterprise trust and build advantages that payment incumbents cannot quickly replicate.
