On Monday, we wrote that scale is not a phase. It is a capability, a strategy and an ecosystem outcome.
The practical follow-up is less glamorous, but more useful: If scale is the ambition, is the fund actually built to capture it?
Backing ambitious companies is only one part of the job. The other is making sure the fund can hold enough ownership, reserve enough capital, manage dilution, navigate liquidity pressure and return capital when the outliers actually arrive.
Because scale does not automatically translate into fund performance.
That is where the craft begins.
It means understanding ownership, reserves, dilution, portfolio construction, fund size, DPI pressure, liquidity options, LP expectations and repeatability before they become urgent.
This is the operating layer behind the thesis. It is also the system we are building EUVC Academy around.
Start with the mechanics of scale
1- Understand the fund model
Start with the Fund Modelling in VC series, from the essential building blocks and assumptions sheet construction to portfolio construction and decomposition. The goal is simple: connect assumptions, ownership, reserves and outcomes before capital is deployed.
2- Stress-test the strategy
Then pressure-test the model. The Fund Returner Simulator helps managers test whether ownership, dilution, ticket sizes, valuation step-ups, follow-on strategy and exits can realistically return the fund. The VC Monte Carlo Simulator takes that further by stress-testing portfolio construction across thousands of simulated scenarios.
3- Prepare for liquidity
Finally, build options for stretched timelines and DPI pressure. The secondaries masterclass, with recording and resources coming July 22, is one practical way to think beyond traditional exits.

Go deeper into the mechanics that turn venture ambition into fund-level outcomes.
Scale is exciting. But scale without a system is just a story.
The best managers are not only looking for outliers. They are building the fund mechanics, LP trust and decision-making discipline required to capture them.
That is the work we are helping investors do inside EUVC Academy.
